Colour me surprised

So, MSN Messenger Live 8 Beta Turbo FX+ FINISH HIM!!! is sort of out now, and it looks all shiny and Vista-esque:

Don't cut yourself on those corners

It's instructive to note that MSN Messenger 8 allows you to:

• Change your window background
• Do animated nudges
• Send animated emoticons
• Play huge 'winks' and other monstrosities
• Set up a display picture
• Tell people what music you're listening to
• Keep your contacts in the address book
• Send SMS messages to someone's mobile phone
• Use voice chat to another PC or telephone
• Video chat
• etc

...but if you want to change your font colour so it's easy to tell your own comments from your friends' comments, then you still get the fantastic choice of the 16-colour EGA palette from 1988 - suck it down!

It goes without saying that half of these are almost unreadable on a white background (or just plain unbearable), and the others are varying shades of muddy puddle, ffs. About the best colour they have is blue, for god's sake - blue is the worst colour to use for text (your eye is worst at resolving detail of blue objects), but it's still one of the best text colours available in MSN Messenger. I think that says a lot.

Plus, it has come to my attention that some people voluntarily eat snails. This is unrelated information, but of a similar level of rank stupidity.
